Ceratocystiopsis spp. associated with pine- and spruce-infesting bark beetles in Norway

چکیده

Abstract The genus Ceratocystiopsis ( Ophiostomatales , Ascomycota ) includes 21 species, which can be found mainly in association with bark beetles the Northern Hemisphere. A survey of species associated infesting Picea abies and Pinus sylvestris Norway yielded 126 isolates, representing neglecta rollhanseniana four described herein as chalcographii debeeria norroenii troendelagii . new taxa were morphologically characterised phylogenetically analysed on basis sequence data multiple loci (ITS, LSU, beta-tubulin TUB2 ), calmodulin CAL translation elongation factor 1-alpha TEF1 genes). C most frequently isolated latter had wider vector range.

Ophiostoma spp. associated with pine- and spruce-infesting bark beetles in Finland and Russia

The timber and pulp industries of Finland rely heavily on importations from Russia as source of raw timber. These imports raise the risk of accidentally importing forest pests and pathogens, especially bark beetles and their associated fungi, into Finland. Although ophiostomatoid fungi have previously been reported from Finland and Russia, the risks of accidentally moving these fungi has prompt...

Associations of Conifer-Infesting Bark Beetles and Fungi in Fennoscandia

Bark beetles (Coleoptera, Scolytinae) have a widespread association with fungi, especially with ophiostomatoid fungi (Ascomycota) that cause blue staining of wood, and in some cases, serious tree diseases. In Fennoscandia, most studies of these fungi have focused on economically important bark beetle species and this is likely to have led to a biased view of the fungal biodiversity in the regio...

Eight new Leptographium species associated with tree-infesting bark beetles in China

Leptographium spp. are anamorphs of Grosmannia residing in the order Ophiostomatales. These fungi are typically associated with bark-beetles and are common causal agents of sapstain in lumber and some are important tree pathogens. In this study, Leptographium spp. associated with bark beetles collected during a survey in Jilin and Yunnan provinces of China, were identified. Identifications were...

DNA sequence comparisons of Ophiostoma spp., including Ophiostoma aurorae sp. nov., associated with pine bark beetles in South Africa

BARK BEETLES (COLEOPTERA: Scolytinae) are well-recognized vectors of Ophiostoma species. Three non-native bark beetle species infest various Pinus species in South Africa, and they are known to carry at least 12 different species of ophiostomatoid fungi. Some of these fungi have not been identified to species level. The aim of this study was to determine or confirm the identities of Ophiostoma ...

Heterobasidion spp, triggers non-specific defence responses in bark of Norway spruce

Norway spruce [Picea abies (L.) Karst.] is one of the economically most important conifer species in Europe. The major pathogen on Norway spruce is Heterobasidion parviporum (Fr.) Niemelä & Korhonen. The completed genome sequence of H. irregulare opens up new possibilities to understand the interactions between Heterobasidion spp. and spruce. However to date there are no completed genome sequen...
